Agape Prison Ministry: Bringing Hope Behind Bars
"You find families for those who are lonely. You set prisoners free and let them prosper..." — Psalm 68:6
In 2008, God opened the door for me to serve at Gouverneur Correctional Facility through Kairos Prison Ministries. This calling became even clearer after a personal experience that same year. Encouraged by a friend in Potsdam, I joined Kairos, and we later planned a weekend seminar on Agape Prison Ministries in India.
A Life-Changing Mission
From January 20-23, 2011, a team of 6 American volunteers and 17 Indian team members conducted a 4-day seminar at The Central Prison of Rajahmundry. Before this, the Indian team underwent six training sessions and two orientation programs.
Impact Inside the Prison
👥 29 inmates attended the seminar
📖 11 sermons & 14 chapel meditations shared
🎨 Interactive sessions with posters, presentations & competitions
🎶 Worship through "Marching Song" & "The Battle Belongs to the Lord"
🙏 Family prayer groups, chapel prayers & meditations
On the fourth day, each inmate received a cross, a Bible, and a certificate. During the closing ceremony, many gave powerful testimonies and committed their lives to Christ. Through the Agape Prison Ministry, we also donated six chairs and a table to the prison.
Grateful Hearts
A special thanks to our American volunteers—Gary, Bruce, Len, Jeff, Tom, and Peter—as well as our dedicated Indian team for their prayers and support.
"I was in prison and you came to visit me." — Matthew 25:36
Glory to God for transforming lives inside and outside the prison walls!
